It Girl Weekly vol. 17
personal style, reservation wars & why you should be sleeping naked
Hi my gorgeous angels! I’m currently writing to you from the most stunning hotel room at Amanjena in Marrakech after a lovely two days in London for my bf’s work trip. I’ve been dreaming of coming to Marrakech for years and cannot believe how lucky we are to be here! More on this soon.
Meanwhile, spring is officially springing! The days are getting longer, the sun is shining, and our wardrobes are begging for something other than a turtleneck. This is the season of dopamine dressing is upon us.
In this week’s edit, we’re talking about the real tea on personal style, why you might be graylisted on Resy, my new favorite book & so much more.
A Brief Commentary on Personal Style
As the fashion weeks come to a close and the trend-prediction frenzies continue to whir, one thing has become glaringly obvious: The most stylish women aren’t thinking about style at all. The real It Girls are too busy building their lives to obsess over their outfits. Their wardrobes evolve naturally — shaped by their ambitions, experiences, and the women they surround themselves with. Meanwhile, the ones agonizing over “aesthetic” and curating their closets like a mood board look more like they’re playing dress-up, not actually living.
We were never meant to care this much. True glamour — the kind that turns heads without trying — comes from a life well-lived, not a wardrobe meticulously curated to impress strangers. The most effortlessly stylish women aren’t obsessing over "serving a look" because they’re too busy actually living. Their style is a byproduct of their experiences, their confidence, and their perspective — not a result of overstuffed shopping carts and endless Pinterest boards.
And not to hit too close to home, but they’re stacking their CVs, expanding their networks, and surrounding themselves with women who inspire more than just their closets. They cultivate depth, ambition, and taste in equal measure. Because the most enviable accessory isn’t this season’s trends, it’s a life that speaks for itself.
The Courage to Be Disliked
I recently read The Courage to Be Disliked and my god, I love this book.
Not everyone likes you — and that’s okay. Actually, it’s more than okay. It’s liberating. You don’t like everyone. Why should you expect something different in return?
For the longest time, I was a people-pleaser in designer shoes, weaving my way through life with a carefully curated image that left little room for disapproval. I wanted to be the girl everyone adored, the one who was effortlessly charming, always agreeable, never a source of friction. But somewhere along the way, I realized that being universally liked is a full-time job with zero benefits. And worst of all, it requires you to abandon yourself in the process.
From childhood, we’re conditioned to seek approval. Good grades, good manners, good girl. We shrink parts of ourselves to fit into whatever mold makes us more palatable. We say “yes” when we mean “no.” We smooth our jagged edges so we don’t risk rubbing someone the wrong way.
But here’s the thing: No matter how perfectly you package yourself, someone will still disapprove. You’ll be too much for one person and not enough for another. Someone will misinterpret your kindness as weakness. Someone else will think your confidence is arrogance. You cannot win a game designed that is designed for you to lose.
The moment you stop fearing rejection, you gain something far more valuable than approval: freedom. The courage to be disliked means you prioritize authenticity over acceptance. It means you accept that some people simply won’t vibe with you — and that’s not a problem to be solved. It’s just life.
Because when you stop living for validation, you make space for the people who love you for who you actually are. Not the perfectly polished version of you, but the real you. The one who speaks her mind, makes mistakes, and refuses to shrink for the comfort of others.
How to Actually Not Care
Let’s be real — saying “I don’t care what people think” is easier than actually believing it. But here are some reminders that help:
💡 Rejection is redirection. Every time someone dislikes you, the universe is guiding you toward your real people.
💡 Criticism is inevitable. No one who ever did anything worthwhile was universally adored.
💡 Other people’s opinions are none of your business. Period. You can’t control them, so why waste energy trying?
The It Girl Mindset
The ultimate It Girl isn’t the one who’s the most beloved — she’s the one who owns herself, as she is, unapologetically. She walks into a room knowing some people will roll their eyes, and she simply doesn’t care. She’s too busy living her life to feign likability.
So please, ruffle some damn feathers.
Sephora Spring Savings Event
The Sephora sale is the time to stock up, splurge, and justify that 24-step skincare routine we all pretend is “low-maintenance.” I did a poll in my Instagram subscriber chat, and the results were clear — no minimalism here. You want everything, and I’m more than happy to enable you.
Here’s my master list of must-haves, from holy grail skincare to “this better change my life” luxury picks. Let’s shop smart (and maybe a little recklessly) 💸✨

Why You Should Be Sleeping Naked
Good sleep is the ultimate beauty hack. It’s literally free, and yet, most of us are skimping on it. From boosting collagen production and brain function to balancing hormones and improving mental health, quality sleep is the foundation of every It Girl’s radiance. Consider this your wake-up call (or, actually, your go-back-to-sleep call).
When you sleep, your body goes into full repair mode — boosting collagen production, reducing inflammation, and balancing hormones. That means fewer breakouts, plumper skin, and brighter under-eyes (aka, the natural alternative to filler and concealer). But the benefits don’t stop at beauty. Deep sleep sharpens memory, enhances brain function, and keeps your nervous system from spiraling into stress-induced chaos. And let’s not forget: well-rested you is a happier, more confident, and all-around glowier version of yourself.
Let’s dive into why prioritizing (naked) rest is the ultimate flex.
Sleep Naked
Here’s why:
Improved Sleep Quality
Your body naturally lowers its core temperature as you sleep, and sleeping naked helps regulate this process. Studies show that a cooler sleeping environment (60-67°F) leads to deeper, more restorative sleep, improving REM cycles and reducing nighttime awakenings.
A 2018 study published in Nature and Science of Sleep found that lowering skin temperature enhances sleep quality, making you feel more refreshed in the morning.
Vaginal Health
Wearing tight underwear or synthetic fabrics overnight can trap moisture, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast (ew).
Sleeping naked allows your queen to breathe, which reduces the risk of yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis.
Metabolism & Weight Regulation
A study from the National Institutes of Health found that sleeping in a cooler environment increases brown fat activity, which helps burn calories and regulate blood sugar.
This means that maintaining a lower body temperature overnight (by ditching your clothes) could help with weight management and metabolic health.
Skin & Hair Health
Sleeping naked helps prevent overheating, which can lead to excess sweating and clogged pores, reducing breakouts and irritation.
A 2012 study in Sleep found that better sleep quality increases collagen production, helping with skin repair and reducing signs of aging.
Balances Cortisol & Reduces Stress
High nighttime temperatures can spike cortisol, the stress hormone, which contributes to anxiety and weight gain.
Keeping cool by sleeping naked helps keep cortisol levels balanced, reducing stress and promoting a more relaxed state.
Hormonal Balance & Fertility
Excess heat from tight clothing can interfere with melatonin and growth hormone production, both essential for recovery and anti-aging benefits.
Sleeping in cooler temperatures has been linked to better reproductive health by maintaining optimal hormonal function.
So, If you’re looking for an easy, science-backed way to improve your sleep, skin, and stress levels, ditching pajamas might just be the simplest beauty and wellness hack out there. Your body (and your glow) will thank you!
Reservation Wars
Have you tried to get a reservation at a popular restaurant lately? If so, you were probably asked to provide your credit card information or even pay a deposit to secure your table. This (relatively) new practice has become common among top restaurants in major cities as a way to deter influencers and bots from monopolizing reservations without actually contributing much to the establishment.
Some restaurateurs, fed up with the situation, have gone a step further — requiring minimum spends, often paid in advance. Influencers, in particular, have a habit of booking multiple reservations at the same restaurant for the same night, only showing up to one. They prefer to “see where the night takes them” (cue eye roll). And when they do show up, it’s often just for a glass of wine or a couple of small dishes — just enough to snap a photo and post that they’ve been there. This not only disrupts the restaurant’s operations but also deprives both the business and the waitstaff of a full table’s worth of income.
Bots, on the other hand, automatically snatch up all available reservations and resell them at a premium, cutting the restaurant out of the equation entirely. Customers who unknowingly buy these reservations end up frustrated, having paid extra just to secure a table, only to then pay again for their meal.
To combat these issues, new solutions are emerging. Tock, for instance, allows restaurants to set minimum spends, sometimes exceeding $300 for high-end dining experiences paid in advance. Meanwhile, Dorsia operates as a membership platform that grants access to coveted reservations, but with a catch — you must commit to a minimum spend based on the restaurant’s demand, your party size, and the reservation time.
Beware, vibe chasers: restaurants are taking notice of no-shows and guests who barely order. If you’ve ever booked a table just for the aesthetic — or worse, just to post that you were there — staff members are paying attention. And if you repeatedly pull this move, your phone number might end up graylisted on apps like Resy and OpenTable. That means even if a restaurant has availability, you won’t see those reservations online. So next time you think about playing the system, just remember — it might be playing you right back.
Don’t Be Stupid, Get a Prenup
Lately, I’ve been seeing some discourse online — people clutching their pearls over the fact that women are getting prenups.
…what?
I don’t care if you have $1 or $100,000,000 in the bank. You have no idea what the future holds — for your relationship or your finances. A prenup doesn’t mean you expect to get divorced. It means you’re protecting yourself just in case things don’t go according to plan.
And yet, the same people who insist “marriage is forever” are out here pretending divorce doesn’t happen. Spoiler: it does. The divorce rate in the U.S. sits at 56%.
Do you know what actually impacts your chances of divorce? Not a prenup, but financial stress — one of the leading causes of separation. Nearly 50% of divorced couples cite money problems as a major factor. So, let me get this straight. You think protecting your assets is the problem? Not money fights, power imbalances, or one person secretly racking up debt in your name?
Make it make sense.
I’m not saying you should expect a divorce. I’m saying hope for the best, prepare for the worst. You get car insurance even though you don’t plan to crash, right? You save for retirement even though you don’t know exactly how long you’ll live. A prenup is just another form of financial planning — one that ensures security for both partners.
So, what makes you think you’re special? That you’re immune to life happening?
You’re not. Call your lawyer.
London in the Mirror
We had the most lovely few days in London. Eating and shopping our way through Mayfair and Knightsbridge was exactly what the doctor ordered. The outfits were…. very good. More to come on Insta 🫶🏼
